This concept was created as a visual exploration of PEUR’s darker, atmospheric identity, combining elements of vulnerability, isolation, and unease with a refined editorial aesthetic.
I started by building the composition around a high-contrast photographic treatment, reducing the imagery into a distressed monochromatic texture that feels almost archival. The central figure creates a sense of tension and physical vulnerability, while the architectural imagery at the bottom introduces a quieter, more isolated atmosphere. Together, the images create a visual progression between human emotion and environment.
Typography became a major part of the composition. The oversized “PEUR” wordmark uses a dramatic serif typeface to contrast the gritty imagery and give the design a more sophisticated, fashion-editorial quality. Small blocks of lyrics are incorporated throughout the layout to reinforce the emotional narrative without overpowering the imagery.
The star-like symbol acts as a visual anchor and a subtle representation of light within an otherwise dark composition. Its simplicity contrasts with the heavily textured photography, helping balance the overall layout.
The final design intentionally sits between editorial design, album artwork, and alternative music culture, using restrained color, negative space, distressed imagery, and typography to create something that feels melancholic, cinematic, and distinctly PEUR.
